Carolina graduated in Medicine from the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (PUCPR) in Curitiba, Brazil. She then moved to the State of São Paulo, where she did her residency in Pediatrics, specialization in Allergy and Immunology and obtained Master’s and Doctorate from Unicamp. In 2008, she started her post-doctoral studies at the Université Paris-Descarte. That same year, she moved to the United States, where she stayed until 2012 at The Rockefeller University, working with advanced techniques for DNA sequencing and chromosome structure.

She is currently the head of Allergy and Immunology Department at Pequeno Príncipe Hospital and head of the Research Group on Genetics of Rare Diseases at Pelé Pequeno Príncipe Research Institute, where she is also Director of Translational Medicine.
