LASID fellowship award 2017.

The Latin American Society for Immunodeficiencies and Shire are pleased to announce the 2017 Fellowship Award, which offers an award for training and development during one year in primary immunodeficiency. The 2017 Award will provide 4 individuals a one-year grant.

The objective of the grant is to support the development of academic clinical immunology research careers of advanced fellows-in-training who have demonstrated commitment to the study of primary immunodeficiency as a career path in Latin America. Funding is to support the education and research endeavors of this individual. This award is made possible by a generous unrestricted grant from Shire.

Who may apply for a grant?

Latin American fellows or graduate students equal or under 35 years of age, working on primary immunodeficiencies within the region. (Fellow and Mentor should be LASID members by deadline)

What kind of project may be submitted?

The project must be significant and directed to improve diagnostic and treatment of primary immunodeficiency patients in the region. The project must be developed  within the region and should not receive funding from other institution. Probe of requirements may be needed. 

How to apply?

Fellow and Mentor must prepare the following documents (English, Portuguese or Spanish accepted):

-Applicant biographical sketch (maximum 2 pages) including current institution and contact information.

Applicant career development plans (maximum 2 pages)

Applicant Personal Statement letter. (1 page)

Recommendation Letter.

Primary Mentor Biographical sketch (maximum 2 pages) including current institution and contact information.

Current training and research environment descriptive letter (maximum 2 pages)

Financial Conflict of interest statement (1 for each; applicant and mentor)

Project summary in 4 pages.

All documents must be sent to the education committee of LASID in 1 file by e mail to: education@lasid.org

The education committee will review applications and may ask for additional requirements or probe of requirements. 

When will applicants be notified of results?

The education committee of LASID will contact applicants to inform the results of the project evaluation by October 2017, those selected for the award would be announced during the LASID 2017 meeting in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
