Lisa K. Peterson

Lisa K. Peterson, PhD, is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Departments of Pediatrics at National Jewish Health and Rheumatology at the University of Colorado Denver. Her graduate studies at the University of Utah focused on why different strains of mice develop different disease courses upon sensitization with the same myelin derived peptide. During her postdoctoral fellowship, her research has focused on whether manipulating TCR and BCR complex-mediated signaling can prevent and/or treat autoimmune disease. In a previous publication, she demonstrated that increasing strength of signal through the TCR enhances both development and function of regulatory T cells preventing arthritis development in SKG mice. In this issue, she demonstrates that enhancing strength of signal through the BCR prevents the development of dsDNA reactive autoantibodies in mouse models of lupus.
